Adventures In Date Night With Hubby!

Last Saturday after Mass my hubby and I bought pizza for the kids and dropped them home.
Hubby informed me he was taking me out for a date night....just the two of us!
Yippee no cooking this night!

There is a movie (that was pretty good by the way) called Date Night
(I will post the trailer at the end of my post).......our date night was not as adventurous as in the movie but fun none the less!

Our date was full of laughs, laughs and more laughs!
SSSOOOO good for the soul!

Hubby and I have decided we would step out of our norm when going on dates from now on.
The restaurants we pick and places we go will be new and different.
A hit or miss if you will.......but always an adventure......never dull.
The new experiences gives us something to talk about besides the usual.

This date night we went to a Chinese Buffet advertising all you can eat Crap Crab and Lobster.
The lobster smelled awful......like a musty dishrag from the bottom of my kitchen sink. It was coated in a sticky slippery glaze making it impossible to bust the shell off. Not that I was really going to eat it after the nauseating smell it gave off. Hubby and I laughed and laughed as we took turns trying to get the shell off.  It was a great time!
There was lots of other stuff on the buffet that was pretty good.....as good a mass produced Chinese food can be that has been sitting in a steam table for hours! Shrimp fixed 5 ways, the dim sum and Lotus Paste steamed rolls were a few of my favorite things there.
Hubby and I reminisced.....remembering our favorite movies that had Chinese restaurant scenes or served up the ethnic delight.  IE Mine Your and Ours with Henry Fonda and Lucille Ball and
Working Girl with Harrison Ford and Melanie Griffith......dim sum anyone?

I think there was a movie with George Burns that had a girl in a Chinese restaurant talking to God?
I'm not sure if its OH GOD but now I want to get a copy and watch to see? When searching for the trailer for the really old movie I saw as a child....I had forgotten it had John Denver in it as one of the main characters.

As I watched people approach the buffet, most of the folks all took the tongs and shuffled through the tray of chopped shell on lobster........puzzled they took nothing. Some mostly Asians took piles of the stuff!   Doesn't these cockroaches this lobster look appetizing?
The really hard shell is still on.......hummm!

The decorations were truly lovey so very ornate.......etched glass, murals and gold ceilings with crystal light fixtures! Very pretty!

After navigating the buffet......traveling up and down the isles looking for main courses that were to our liking .......it was on to the deserts..... sigh*****Yes, since there were 2 things at the buffet for the taking I can say DESSERTS!
They were both terrible!

But guess what?

I would do it all over again.....yep you heard right!
I would not go back there to eat, but our night was fun, terrific, hilarious!
I totally had a wonderful time with my hubby....it felt like a good first date.
(minus all the awkwardness of what would come after the date ****wink* wink!**)
We talked about all sorts of stuff..... not about the kids or what repairs the house needs!

On our night out we got to know each other better........in a way we had forgotten in the business that comes with the day to day raising 6 kiddos!

Going someplace new and different was refreshing.
It gave us a chance to have something other than the day to day stuff to talk about!

We laughed, giggled (ok only I giggled) and people watched in a good way!

So here's to many more date night adventures!

For our next date night I want to drag   whisk my hubby off to a quaint little Indian restaurant!
He seems to think Indian food is ALL curry!!! Not true!!!! I really think he will be pleasantly surprised!

How are your married date nights?

If you want leave me a comment telling me about a fun or funny date you have been on with your hubby I love to hear from you!

Seen any good movies lately?

 Had any interesting food?

Cheers,
Georgiann

In Search Of Spring

Wow today I woke from my winter slumber to feel the warmth of the sun on my face as it was peaking through my bedroom curtains. I grabbed my camera and headed out......in search of spring!
I felt like a child as I chased this robin from tree to tree and keep him/her in my sights with my zoom lens! My heart was happy and dancing as I felt GOD bathe me in peace and love.
Nature has that effect on me.
What a truly wonderful day this is going to be!
Spring fever is here........even if for a day!

Garden clogs here I come!
I can smell the dirt already!
I'm just a little excited!!!!!!!

We did have a little bit of frost this morning but think I will plant my cool weather plants today!
I have a cloche I made last year to use as a crop cover!
I will be planting a flat each of cauliflower, broccoli and a few cabbages.
I will also get my potato tubs planted.
This year I will grow only 2 kinds..... russets and a blue/purple potato!

If I have time I would like to get the ground ready for my peas today.
{I will sow seed directly into the ground}

An Afternoon Out....Just Hubby and I

Martinis and Bloody Marys
Meat Balls in marinara sauce topped with cheese!
Mini pannini sandwiches to share. So romantic!

Sunday hubby and I decided we would go have drinks and appetizers then head to a movie.
It seems we have a boat load of gift cards needing to get used.
We had gift cards for BOTH the restaurant and the movie!!!!!
Hubby and I had been talking about doing to a movie since Christmas!!!!
There had just been a lot going on here in our home the past few months.
Miscarriage, sports and illness to list a few.
We decided it was important to carve out the time for each other.....our marriage needed it!
Time with NO kiddos....just him and I!
In the morning we took most of our kiddos out to the cemetery to bring flowers to Christians grave.
Then to a park with our dog Jasper. I will post pictures of all that in a few days!
We could not find the enclosed dog park we were hoping to take Jasper to, so we settled for the playground/duck pond for the kids to play for a few moments.
Time was of the essence as we needed to go pick up 2 of our kiddos from various places...... then drop them home so Hubby and I could start our date!!!

The movie we went to see was The Lincoln Lawyer, it was really good!
Here is the official trailer!

Did I mention I brought home a few leftovers?
Well just a small box of mini sandwiches....

Well I got to go.....its tea time!

Quite A Pair

Olivia is now feeling much better and Jasper never leaves her side!
But at the begining of the week......

At the beginning of the week Olivia's cold turned into a fever.....a very high fever (103.5) So I packed her up and headed to the DR's office. They tested her for the FLU, strep throat and white blood counts.
All came back negative and fine. So they sent us over to get a chest X-ray to check for pneumonia. It showed mucus in the lungs but not really pneumonia and her oxygen levels were fine.
We were at the DR's for 3 1/2 long hrs. They decided to start her on an antibiotic and sent the strep test to the lab for a longer test.
We finally got a call yesterday......she had/has strep. Olivia has been on the antibiotic for 3 days so far of  a 5 day course so she is no longer contagious but will keep her home as much as possible and/or away from others. She has been taking long naps and going to bed early! I'm so glad she is feeling better.
She will be getting a new toothbrush today! And I will have the chore of cleaning and sanitizing the toothbrush drawer in my bathroom! DR said if anyone else gets a fever to bring then in! I'm praying not....but you how it is with kids and with a large brood it can get passed around like wildfire! :(

Happy St. Patricks Day

This day is not all about leprechauns, shamrocks and green beer. This is a day to honor and pray to St. Patrick. He was an influential saint who, 1,500 years ago, brought Christianity to the little country of Ireland. He was born about 385 in the British Isles, was carried off while still very young during a raid on Roman Britain by the Irish and sold as a slave. At the end of six years he contrived to escape to Europe, became a monk and was ordained; he then returned to Ireland to preach the Gospel. During the thirty years that his missionary labors continued he covered the Island with churches and monasteries; in 444 he founded the metropolitan see of Armagh. St. Patrick died in 461. After fifteen centuries he remains for all Irishmen the great bishop whom they venerate as their father in the Faith.

Today here in our house you will smell the cornbeef and cabbage cooking all day in the crockpot!
I am Scotch-Irish and this is a fun holiday for us.

Peace and Blessings,

A busy momma's bestfriend

We are a large family.........we are a busy family.
Our days are slow and restful but our evenings seem to go 100 miles per hour.

So who's going to cook dinner?

I just signed up to coach kindergarden soccer
{Jackies co-ed team}

I run car pool for a few of Nicks soccer mates on his practice days.
Nick helps me coach Jackie's team!
His practices are on different days!

Nick has flute concerts and practices!

Noah has Cub Scouts!
Derby races and Blue and Gold Banquet OH my!

I almost forgot....Jackie has Daisy Scouts!
Anyone want to buy Girls Scout cookies? lol
Just kidding.....we are done selling!

My oldest son Jarett is playing on 2 baseball teams and training for football.
He trains 5 nights a week for the different sports and practices after school 5 days a week.
He does not drive yet but a few of his friends do.....so we don't always have to drive him.

We have home school co-ops and church activities that keep us quit busy as well.

As busy as we are its, a good thing I have a crock pot and know how to use it!
My crock pot is my best friend!

My kids love to take turns helping with dinner.
Loading the crock pot is so easy to do first thing in the morning.
If I'm making bean soup as in the photo. I wash and load my dried bean the night before, then in the morning drain the water and add fresh (water) plus my other ingredients.

It's so nice to know dinners ready when we get home after a cold  practice or activity.

After soccer season I will have 4 kids in baseball.

Peace and Blessings,
Georgiann
