May 2013 UPDATE

Here is our Lil'  B*Ian back in January 2013.....he is about 7mo. old in this picture.
 My computer will not let me upload pics from my phone or camera. 
So until I get that fixed this will have to do for now!

Life is so busy but fruitful around here. I hope to have some time to blog about it real soon!

::Today

Today.........
Monday after a 4 day weekend in a house of 8 + many friends over = mess!

:: I will make my coffee (decaf) and eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast.

:: I will check on my 2 sick kiddos...fevers,chills,headaches and sore thoats.

:: I will dawn my cleaning gloves and wipe down my house with bleach.

:: I will do 4 loads of laundry.

:: Do 2 loads of dishes.

:: Clean 3 bathrooms.

:: Make a few important calls....I have an OB appointment tomorrow and I'm not sure I will be able to go  with sick kiddos needing to be home.

:: I will vacumn the living room and tidy up.

:: I will finish making the turkey soup for dinner.

:: I will clear off our dining table and set up the advent wreath Jackie, Noah and I made last week at church!

:: I will also try to catch a nap!

Well my coffee is ready so off I go to start my day......

An Afternoon Out....Just Hubby and I

Martinis and Bloody Marys

Meat Balls in marinara sauce topped with cheese!

Mini pannini sandwiches to share. So romantic!

Sunday hubby and I decided we would go have drinks and appetizers then head to a movie.

It seems we have a boat load of gift cards needing to get used.

We had gift cards for BOTH the restaurant and the movie!!!!!

Hubby and I had been talking about doing to a movie since Christmas!!!!

There had just been a lot going on here in our home the past few months.

Miscarriage,sports and illness to list a few.

We decided it was important to carve out the time for each other.....our marriage needed it!

Time with NO kiddos....just him and I!

In the morning we took most of our kiddos out to the cemetery to bring flowers to Christians grave.

Then to a park with our dog Jasper. I will post pictures of all that in a few days!

We could not find the enclosed dog park we were hoping to take Jasper to, so we settled for the playground/duck pond for the kids to play for a few moments.

Time was of the essence as we needed to go pick up 2 of our kiddos from various places...... then drop them home so Hubby and I could start our date!!!

The movie we went to see was The Lincoln Lawyer, it was really good!

       Did I mention I brought home a few leftovers?
     Well just a small box of mini sandwiches....

Well I got to go.....its tea time!

Stuck.....

Well 2 of my kiddos went with my sister {their Auntie} and her hubby to  go snowboarding up at the local MT.

I pray they are having a fun but safe time sliding down the MT.......but with boys its hard to imagine both fun and safe at the same time! lol I'm sure my sister won't let them do anything stupid!

So while a few of my kiddos are gone with my sis and another few off playing with friends, I am going to attempt to rearrange the living room. I started stirring things around already but think I will snap a picture of the before. It will be more dramatic that way.....you know more of a mess! It should look way better in the after pic. or so I hope?

Well I guess I better quit stalling and get busy?

The way my mind seems to work is......stir stuff around for a bit......trying to get an idea of where to put what....get the creative juices flowing, then get confused and not know what to do next as I sit it a messy pile of stuff!

Do any of you do the same thing? or I'm I the only one?

OK wish me luck and say a few prayers........I am off to get to work!

Yarn Along {and other news}

If you are new to my blog~ Welcome!

I am a fairly new knitter that has yet to see a project to completion! :)

In the photo above:: I have just started a pair of sock for myself.

My knitting teacher from church had to show me how to cast on all over again.

Apparently I did it wrong on my other 2 project hence the reason for the snares.

A good foundation to a project is a wonderful thing.

I don't really want socks with bumps and holes in them from the start! hee hee!

I did buy some dusty blue yarn to make some baby socks.

I WAS pregnant with baby #7 and miscarried last Thursday {Jan. 20}

I was only 8 weeks along but deep down I felt it was going to be a boy.

I got the positive test on Christmas morning!

As for reading I have not felt like it.

Just Hangin' Out~

Last week after hubby took some of the kiddos to the lake for tubing behind the boat and fish to off the dock, he came home and hung out the towels, swim trunks and stuff on the backyard clothesline to dry!

There's just something about seeing clothes on a clothes line that makes my heart flutter!
I guess it doesn't take much to get this gal going! :) The simplest things make me happy!
When things make me happy I get out my camera (which is most of the time). My kids have nicknamed me Mommarottzzi! sigh***

A while after I snapped my clothes line picture,hubby and I sat snuggled on the love seat. We could see the decorated clothes line from where we sat.
Hubby said,"momma,that makes me happy!"
I said "it makes me happy too!"
 Hubby then said "aren't you going to take a picture of it?"
I replied " I already did"!

We both sighed and smiled BIG as we sat snuggled together in the living room......looking at our messy, yet cozy house!
The aftermath of a busy, fun weekend in a house with many kiddos! True bliss!

We are truly blessed and thankful! God is good!

Homemade Strawberry Jam~

The other night I stayed up late and made homemade jam. I have only made jam a few times before and was thrilled when BOTH batches turned out! yipee!

I was inspired to make my own jam after reading and watching a DVD about how bad high fructose corn syrup is for our bodies.
(Dr. Andrew something or other I'm to lazy to go look.)
I'm not all for feeding my kids a bunch of sugar but I would rather use sugar though than any thing else.

I would love to make a few batches of raspberry jam some time soon!
Not sure when raspberry season is here?

My morning routine consists of getting up about 7:30 am making my Chia tea with Organic Vanilla Soy Silk, 2 pieces of nutty whole grain toast(or homemade bread) with jam and sitting down to the computer to see if anyone said "Hi"! Then I read my favorite blogs in google reader and will pop over and say hi if I have time! Every few days I try to blog about something fun we have been doing around the house!
( I have been really busy the past few days to follow my nornal routine!)

I was caught......

....day dreamin' in the garden!

Last week after a yummy salmon dinner and some pie, hubby caught me day dreamin' in the garden!
That is one of HIS favorite parts of the family garden,as well as watching me pull weeds! lol
I am the one that usually has the camera in hand. But this night as I stood in dream land I could hear the sound of my camera as hubby took my picture!

On another note:

With all the rain we have had lately my garden is off to a slow start but give it about 4 weeks and I bet it will be like night and day!

Last nights baseball game was fun.....it drizzled on and off, the sun came out a few times and it was not to terribly chilly.
This morning it seems a bit colder than yesterday so after I retrieve my crock pot off the side of the house and scrape out the moldy pinto beans. I will make a large crock of taco soup for dinner tonight.
If you are wondering why my crock ended up on the side of the house....its because my hubby did not want to put the left over beans in a smaller dish, so he put the whole crock out side! He said,it was cold enough to keep. I was not going to serve food that was out all night to anyone! They never got brought in and its been about a week. Its ugly now! But whats a woman to do? I need my crock back!

So as I sit looking out my kitchen window, I can see rain pouring down. I pray it lets up long enough for me to get the job done!

I was wondering?.........Does anyone out there have Hillbilly ways that have been passed down from your husbands side of the family? lol  :) If so chime in and let me know. I sure could use the laugh!

Victory In My Garden!

Last week I harvested my red leaf lettuce and Swiss chard.
(just clip what you need and more grows back)
This week I will be harvesting my broccoli.
(the pic below of the broccoli was taken 2 weeks ago and is much bigger now)

Last night I went to a Self Reliance meeting and met a cool group of folks....

some are local farmers

some are awesome gardeners

a few are bee keepers

some know how to dehydrate food well

some can share seed saving knowledge

one gal is starting a farmers market in our local area!

The group is full of knowledgeable folks willing share what they know!

My goal of gaining knowledge for and making a cold frame or small green house is now underway!

I will have a winter garden this year!

The Self Reliance Club I joined will be coming to my home to hold a make and take clinic for the small tent frames for use on raised beds! The cost is about $15.00  for each 4x6 tent. (I want 4).

Others will make theirs and take them home!

I can't wait!

Beautiful.....and a Birthday Giveaway~

Today was just beautiful.....I teared up while taking pictures this morning of my sweet girl before the party!

Thank you Lord for such a beautiful girl....she is smart,funny and caring! I'm am truly blest to be her mom and I don't take that for granted! We had an awesome day with friends and family!

Oh The Sweet Smell Of......

Yesterday, I was enjoying my morning tea and was puzzled to hear a knock at the front door.

 I could hardly contain myself when I peered out the window to see a BIG BROWN TRUCK...

it said UPS on the side! When I looked down on the porch I saw a small brown box!

 My Scentsy stuff was here.....faster than I thought!

If you have not heard of Scentsy....its a wickless candle company.

You buy a warmer (I use mine as a night lite). The warmer heats up scented wax and makes your room/house smell wonderful.

They are safer than candles... no flame....just a light bulb!

I now have 2 large warmers....one down stairs in the living room, and my new one (BORNEO) will go up in my room. There are a pile of people that sleep in our room there was a need for some added freshness! :)

 I also have a small plug in style warmer for use in the bathroom or kicthen

(I move it around were I need it).

With scents like INNER PEACE, FRENCH LAVENDER and SWEET PEA VANILLA there is something for everyone.....they even have BUBBLE GUM scent!

Happy Friday and Our Newest Additions~

I pray everyone is having a wonderful Friday!

I know we will be!

Tonight, Noah and I will be at his First Holy Communion rehersal.....

so for a quick fun dinner we will be having homemade pizzas!

Yesterday we got the call......our Indian Runner Ducklings had arrived at the feed store! The kids and I were so stoked! We ordered a male and female, but the gal reported her invoice indicated they were both girls. So I had her order us one more duckling...hopefully a boy next time!

Yesterday Hubby came home with a bottle of local wine and a dozen peach colored roses!

I barely had time to stuff the flowers in a vase of water before racing out the door to help out at the county food bank located at our church! I go most Thursdays for 2hrs. bringing one of my kiddos (they take turns) and I bring the 2 neighbor kids each time. Thursday nights we just stock sheves and divide things into small bags! Its very relaxing!

Needless to say the bottle of wine would have to wait for another day. And not tonight because, I have to be at a homeschool planing meeting at 7 am Saturday morning.....45 mintutes from home! That means a wake up time of about 5:30am.....to leave home around 6:15am! EEEKKKK

Have I told you I'm not an early bird?

So maybe Saturday night AFTER Noah makes his communion at the 5pm Mass we will have some wine?

We can celebrate Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakquel's return to the movie store!

Yep, you heard me right!

Happy return...good ridden...LOL

We have gone to bed listening to those squeaky mice sing all this week!

Our kiddos (ok just the 7 and 4 yr old) loved the movie....so much so they want us to buy it!

We share a family bed and usually watch a kids movie as we all fall asleep....this had been their choice all week!

It will be a happy Friday with out the mice!...... chipmunks...what ever!

Its going to be a really good Friday and a very blest weekend for our family!

Homemade Face Scrub~

Back to Basics Face Scrub

• 1/2 cup sugar....I use unbleached organic!
• 3/4 cup honey.....Raw is best but I did not have any.
• 1/4 cup olive oil.....you could also try another plant oil. ie: apricot, jojoba etc...
• Essential Oils (you can experiment....but do some reading first as some can not be used on the face or while pregnant!!!)
• Mix the ingredients well and each time you go to use it because the oils will go to the top.

I recommend making small batches of face scrub until you find what combo works well for you!
I used 5 drops Lavender, 2 drops Rosemary & 3 drops Patchouli! When I read in one of my books AFTER making my first batch a few weeks ago my book said rosemary should not be used on the face. I had no problem with it in my first batch so I added some to my second batch. (I love the smell).
You can use Tea tree, Chamomile or others......just do some reading on them first!




Many things we use to clean our face and use on our skin afterwards have many harmful things in them. I know many people that use baby oil on their body after a shower but did you know that baby oil is made with a petroleum product called mineral oil?
Mineral oil is what is left after processing crude oil to make gasoline!!!! It cost more for companies to "dispose of it" so they sell it cheap to lotion and makeup companies!
Many face cleansers, make-up, shampoos and conditioners are filled with very bad things including mineral oil and parabens! I have gone through and got rid of most of what I had in my bathroom cabinets. Oh the dumb stuff we spend our $$$$$$ on!!!!! I have lost the desire to spend money on things that clutter my bathroom and that are not good for my skin or hair! My body and pocket book thank me for it!

No wonder I have pimples and clogged pores!!!!!

Skin care right out of my kitchen! Made with NATURAL ingredients....it has to be good! And it only cost me about $ 2.00 to make this 1 month+ supply of natural face scrub you could even eat it if you wanted!!!! ( though I don't recomend it).




Every morning and most evenings I wash my face with my homemade scrub using small terri-cloth & fabric pads I made.
I wish I had a serger! O well I was trying for the rustic look anyways...right???? No laughing at my sewing job!

• I now have a small pad for washing VS a large wash cloth each time. (I backed these small terri-cloth pads with fabric so I could find them eazier in the laundry!)

I have a even smaller one for applying my witch-hazel / tea-tree oil toner! No more need for bleached cotton balls or throw away cotton rounds!
I need to make a bunch more of these cool pads so I can use 2 each day... and some for my teenager with skin problems!

For a skin toner after washing I use Witch Hazel with several drops of tea-tree oil.

I rarely wear make up anymore! My face feels alive and my skin looks radiant...so why bother with make-up?
