Easter Sunday was a day of worship!
A day to give God thanks and praise!
A day to remember what Jesus did for the world!
Our family had a wonderful day....after church (the 8:30am Mass) Hubby decided to take us all out for the ALL you can eat Mexican Buffet (it has both breakfast stuff and lunch favorites!) The restaurant is a mom and papa hole in the wall kind of place one town over. The atmosphere is very cozy and the owners are really nice!
After we arrived home with our tummies full, we changed clothes and got ready for our family egg hunt~
Then a nap and a nice Sunday Easter dinner!
I will post some of my pictures tomorrow~
A Large Family Easter~
Our family no longer does Easter baskets for each person. Its been about 3 years~
We are a family of 8....6 being kids.It was very costly and took up to much space in our home to put out baskets for every one! Not to mention ALL the bickering that would happen when the little ones would eat stuff out of the older kids basket! Jesus does not delight in that kind of thing!
Instead what we do is put out a few bags of our families favorite candies on the table at the brunch or in this years case Easter dinner. I can control the whole candy intake much better!
We do a family egg hunt with real hard boiled eggs and some plastic ones that have homemade coupons in them that can be turned in to redeam things like: a Happy Meals, pack of gum,a box of sugar cereal etc....
The kids have a great time!
How was your Easter? Leave me a comment......

Those dresses are so beautiful! I like the little petticoat look at the bottom. Such sweet little girls!
ReplyDeleteJust this year we went to having a boy basket and a girl basket. I like your idea too!
We went to church for communion and pot luck and then to the cemetery to tend Emmy's grave. Spent the rest of the day with family.
Sounds like you had a lovely day!
We had a great, but very low-key Easter here.
ReplyDeleteThe highlight was a rolicking game of "I spy" that had us laughing so hard we couldn't talk.
Dinner was roast lamb, mashed potatoes, cauliflower with cheese sauce, deviled eggs, and lemon meringue pie for dessert.
Your girls are so pretty in their Easter dresses!
As for baskets, we separated those from Easter a few years back. We do spring baskets on the spring Equinox now and have a strictly Christian celebration. The baskets usually contain one special treat for each child - Cadbury eggs for my son and Annie's gummy bunnies for the girls. Then they each get a small gift. I got tired of the candy and cheap toys. Works for us. :)
Amy,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment on the dreses...Costco $15.00! It was a real deal for such nice dreses!
Though we did not fill baskets the girls did get a Angelina Ballerina Movie and a few books.
Nick and Noah got some books and bubbles.
Jacob and Jarett got books too. (Sports novels by Mike Lupica.

Kari,
Your Esater dinner sounded yummy....I almost bought a leg of lamb....but not knowing if I would like it put it back....it was $18.00 for the hunk I had my mitts on!
Your game sounded like a good time!
My son Noah and I play games in the afternoons and have the silliest times laughing together!
Thats how memories are made!
The Spring Equinox is a great idea for baskets!
Or the giving of gifts anyway~ my counters can't house all the 6 baskets it would take for our family!) I love the idea of separtating the gifts from EASTER!
Warmly,
Georgiann
